Is My Car Safe for a Road Trip?

by | Mar 30, 2019 | Car tips by Brad

With Easter around the corner, your family may be preparing for an annual spring break road trip. Whether it’s across counties or cross-country, these 5 vehicle safety tips will help keep your car in good running condition so you can stay safe and in control on the road.

  1. Fluid Levels – Check motor oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, anti-freeze/coolant, transmission fluid, and top off your windshield cleaning fluid.
  2. Belts – Inspect belts for cracks, fraying, or splits.
  3. Lights – Check high and low beams, brake lights, and turn signals. Dim, foggy headlights can be brought in for cleaning.
  4. Tires – Check the condition and pressure. Don’t forget the spare!
  5. Hoses – Check for leaks or damaged hoses (brittle, cracked, mushy, or swollen). If you see anti-freeze, a hose is leaking and must be replaced immediately.
